A Refugee's Journey of Survival and Hope Exhibit Seattle

See life through the eyes of a refugee through personal stories, moving photographs, and multi-media. Ponder the trials of starting life with nothing, in strange places and foreign cities, and having to call this new place home.
Connecting Elders to the ArtsPort Townsend

Northwind Arts Alliance and Arts to Elders present singer Sydney Keegan, accompanied by Helen Lauritzen and with guest singer Anna Neiman. The performance will be at Seaport Landing on July 13, 2010 at 2:00 pm, at 1201 Hancock Street. Seniors, NAA members and volunteers are welcome and invited to attend. On September 14th at 2:00 pm, Arts to Elders presents the music group Nostalgia with Mary Lou Montgomery. The performance is at Seaport Landing, 1201 Hancock Street. The Readings and Lectures Series from the Port Townsend Writers' Conference draws its audience of readers and writers into contemporary literature and culturally specific, seminar-style conversations at Fort Worden State Park--a turn-of-the-century army base of unmatched natural beauty and historic interest on the shores of the Salish Sea. All events take place at the Wheeler Theater. Craft lectures: 4:00 p.m. Readings: 7:30 p.m.
Comics at the Crossroads: Art of the Graphic Novel Goldendale

The Pacific Northwest is home to a thriving community of comic artists. “Comics at the Crossroads” includes an exhibit with an accompanying (free) brochure; art workshops for young people; a multimedia presentation/lecture; family programs and activities (including an Art Discovery Self-Guided Activity Booklet); a gallery walk; and Web-based presentations of data (including posting materials on the museum’s Web site and Facebook page).
Fishtown and the Skagit RiverLa Conner

"Fishtown and the Skagit River" combines a major exhibition, publication, and related cultural programs into a cohesive summer program. The project is based on the late 1960s-80s artists' colony that evolved on the lower Skagit River Delta known as Fishtown, and will also include its surrounding artists who contributed to the idea of Fishtown as a "state of mind". Program events include an exhibition (July 2 - October 3, 2010), an opening reception, a panel discussion, and two poetry readings.
Community-Minded Enterprises’ Not to be Forgotten: A Quaint Little City and Her Unknown PastSpokane

"Not to be Forgotten" is the story of Spokane's first African American pioneers and the legacy they created in Eastern Washington. This glimpse of Spokane's history will be utilized by the Northwest Museum and Art Center, CMTV Channel 14 and Spokane Public Schools as an educational video documentary resource. Events are launched by an initial screening “Juneteenth” celebration. CMTV broadcasts of “Not to be Forgotten” begin on June 26.
Yakima Valley Museum: Women’s Votes/Women’s VoicesYakima

The Yakima Valley Museum, in cooperation with other community arts and humanities organizations, is co-sponsoring a series of community programs and dialogues to accompany the exhibition Women's Votes/Women's Voices. The program and events are focused on issues related to Washington State achieving women's suffrage in 1910 as well as issues that continue to challenge equality for women today.

Media Apprentice Program will work with professional women filmmakers and historians to create a short video documentary commemorating the Centennial celebration of suffrage for women in Washington State. Events include an educational program, fieldtrips, final screening, and exhibition.
