Humanities Washington is Seeking Presenters
for Inquiring Mind Community Conversations
in 2008-2009!

First-time state funding through the Office of the Secretary of State will help us to double the number of Inquiring Mind presentations in Washington this year. Presentations on a wide range of subjects are now available at low cost to community organizations, libraries, museums and schools throughout the state. Proposed programs should involve the humanities as a means of exploring human attitudes and values, as well as historical and contemporary issues.

For the 2008-2009 season, Humanities Washington will pay special attention to topics relating to:

  • Our upcoming Smithsonian traveling exhibit Key Ingredients, America by Food
  • Women’s history and culture leading to the upcoming centennial of suffrage in Washington State
  • Interfaith dialogue
For information on how to apply, click here or contact Lydia Bassett for more information.

Humanities Washington extends thanks to the Office of the Secretary of State for their support of this program in alignment with their efforts in voter education, civic engagement, Washington history and archives, and the State library.

Special thanks to Secretary of State Sam Reed, to Representatives Sherry Appleton, Pat Lanz, Larry Seaquist, and Mary Skinner and to Senators Jim Honeyford, Jeanne Kohl-Welles, Ed Murray, and Phil Rockefeller for their leadership in securing this first-ever state funding, and to all those Representatives and Senators who offered both their support and input on the specific needs of communities.
