We are a resource for other non-profit organizations, scholars, parents, writers, teachers, students, documentary filmmakers, journalists and other groups and individuals across the state. We are dedicated to providing humanities programs that nurture creativity, promote dialogue, and spark critical thinking. Our programs include...

In 2006, Humanities Washington coordinated and sponsored 1,604 programs - an increase of 19% from 2005 - in 30 of 39 counties in Washington State. We served an estimated 1,341,000 people - an increase of 74% from 2005.
We believe that the humanities help people broaden their perspectives, become more active participants in their communities, and find deeper meaning in everyday occurrences. Founded in 1973, we are a non-profit organization and public foundation affiliated with the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). We are supported by the NEH, the state of Washington and contributions from individuals and foundations.
