About Barbara Krohn
Barbara's long career in history and publishing includes her position with the University of Washington where she served as Publisher of Student publications and adviser to education students and the University of Washington, as well as teaching positions at UW, Highline College, and Seattle University. As creator and publisher of Landmarks magazine, Barbara provided the voice for historic preservation in Washington and promoted numerous organizations dedicated to the humanities.
Her noteworthy career led her to leadership posts with Washington Trust for Historic Preservation which she helped found, the Association for Women in Communications, Pi Lambda Theta, Fort Vancouver Historical Society of Clark County, Pioneer Association of the State of Washington, Educational Press Association of America, and Washington Commission for the Humanities (now Humanities Washington). The Western Washington Society of Professional Journalists honored Barbara with its Distinguished Service to journalism Award and College Media Advisors gave her its Distinguished Newspaper Advisors Award.
Barbara is a life-time member of Friends of the Humanities, and also a long-time member of Washington State Historical Society, Burke Museum, Association of King County Historical Organizations, and the Pacific Northwest Historians Guild. She is currently the owner of Barbara Krohn and Associates, a communications firm specializing in education, history, and historic preservation.
