Jess Walter is the author behind Beautiful Ruins, an inventive, sweeping novel that jumps from Italy to Edinburgh to Hollywood. He has written five other novels, including The Zero and Citizen Vince, for which he won the Edgar Allen Poe Award. Walter is also the emcee for our first-ever Bedtime Stories Spokane literary gala Sept. 28.

Author magazine’s Bill Kenower recently sat down with Walter for a video interview about growing up in Spokane and fitting the pieces of his latest novel together. Author, a publication of the Pacific Northwest Writers Association, generously allowed us repost the video interview here.
