A Celebration of Poetry with the Washington State Poet Laureate

Event Description

Please join us for a celebration of poetry, honoring poets who have engaged, delighted, and inspired C-Tran bus riders with poems on buses since 2016. Washington State Poet Laureate Rena Priest will be guest of honor and former Clark County Poet Laureate Gwendolyn Morgan (2018-20) will “pass the pen” to current Clark County Poet Laureate Armin Tolentino (2021-24). The afternoon event will include readings from Poetry Moves poets from its past five seasons, as well as interpretive dance and music.

Rena Priest is the current Washington State Poet Laureate. A member of the Lhaq’temish (Lummi) Nation, she is the author of Patriarchy Blues, which was honored with the 2018 American Book Award, and the recent Sublime Subliminal.

The Poet Laureate program is sponsored by Humanities Washington and The Washington State Arts Commission/ArtsWA, with the support of Governor Jay Inslee. See the full website of the Poet Laureate here.

Poet Laureate events are produced by the hosting organization.
