ONLINE: Harm and Healing: An Online Community Gathering about Race, Health, and Protest

Event Description

Register for the online event here: June 24, 3:00 – 4:30 PM.

Whether we have been on the streets or at home, the recent protests have touched us. We are in a historic, nationwide moment that forces us to face our country’s history of racism, the uncertainties of a pandemic, and the racial disparities of sickness. And we experience this all while we cannot physically be with those who might embrace us and support us.

Join Dr. Anu Taranath, Humanities Washington Speakers Bureau presenter and University of Washington professor, for a community gathering to grapple with the enormity of this moment. We will consider the long everydayness of racism, as well as what makes this moment so urgent. We will consider how we might hold rage and compassion at the same time, and how we might approach – or recover from – the conversations we are having.

We won’t be able to get to all questions or comments, but we will have the chat box going. This session will not be recorded out of respect for the participants. Let’s pause together so we can better imagine how to support our colleagues, friends, families and ourselves.

Program will be offered on two separate dates. Please sign up for only one to allow more people to participate.
