IN PERSON: Songs over Sagebrush: the creative lives and poetry of Japanese women on the Yakama Reservation

Event Description

Join Yesenia Navarrete Hunter, one of Humanities Washington’s Public Humanities Fellows, for the second We Are Neighbors / Somos Vecinos Listening Party. These events are deliberate spaces for conversations within diverse communities. Neighbors of all backgrounds are invited to attend and participate in creating cross-cultural dialogue across the Yakima Valley.

For this listening party, Songs over Sagebrush: the creative lives and poetry of Japanese women on the Yakama Reservation, Yesenia will be joined by traci kato-kiriyama (they/she), an award-winning multi-, inter- and transdisciplinary artist and author of Navigating With(out) Instruments. A storyteller and Artivist, kato-kiriyama is recognized for their work as a writer/performer, theatre deviser, cultural producer, and community organizer.
