Poetry on the Salish Sea, featuring Washington State Poet Laureate Arianne True

Event Description

Join Washington State Poet Laureate Arianne True for a reading at Poetry on the Salish Sea. This summer, Wilderbee Farm is thrilled to host Poetry On The Salish Sea, a series of monthly poetry readings in our meadery garden between May and October by poets from around the Olympic Peninsula and beyond. Poetry On The Salish Sea celebrates the natural abundance and strong literary arts community in our region. Seating is limited so feel free to bring your own lawn chair.

Arianne True is the 2023-2025 Washington State Poet Laureate, appointed by Governor Inslee. A member of the Choctaw and Chickasaw nations, she has dedicated years to teaching and mentoring young poets around the Salish Sea. Arianne has received fellowships from Jack Straw Cultural Arts, Hugo House, and Artist Trust. She is an alum of Hedgebrook and the MFA program at the Institute of American Indian Arts and was recently the Seattle Repertory Theater’s first Native Artist-in-Residence.

The Poet Laureate program is sponsored by Humanities Washington and The Washington State Arts Commission/ArtsWA, with the support of Governor Jay Inslee. See the full website of the Poet Laureate here.

Poet Laureate events are produced by the hosting organization. More details about this event to come.
