Event Description
Join Washington State Poet Laureate Arianne True for a free 75-minute queer writing workshop on Monday, November 13, 2023 at 7pm. We’ll be writing and doing writing exercises, so bring something to write on and something to write with (paper/computers/phones all okay for writing on). This is for writers of all levels, including first-time poetry-curious folks! You just need to be willing to try things out.
Arianne True is the 2023-2025 Washington State Poet Laureate, appointed by Governor Inslee. A member of the Choctaw and Chickasaw nations, she has dedicated years to teaching and mentoring young poets around the Salish Sea. Arianne has received fellowships from Jack Straw Cultural Arts, Hugo House, and Artist Trust. She is an alum of Hedgebrook and the MFA program at the Institute of American Indian Arts and was recently the Seattle Repertory Theater’s first Native Artist-in-Residence.
The Poet Laureate program is sponsored by Humanities Washington and The Washington State Arts Commission/ArtsWA, with the support of Governor Jay Inslee. See the full website of the Poet Laureate here.
Poet Laureate events are produced by the hosting organization. More details about this event to come.
