Vancouver USA Arts & Music Festival, featuring Washington State Poet Laureate Arianne True

Event Description

Washington State Poet Laureate Arianne True will join Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle for the opening ceremony of the Vancouver USA Arts & Music Festival at noon in Esther Short Park (W. 8th & Columbia streets) . ASL interpretation will be available

The inaugural Vancouver USA Arts & Music Festival comes to downtown Vancouver August 4–6. Free and open to all ages, the festival invites community members and visitors to experience three days of exciting music, art, dance, food, and fun in downtown Vancouver.

Arianne True is the 2023-2025 Washington State Poet Laureate, appointed by Governor Inslee. A member of the Choctaw and Chickasaw nations, she has dedicated years to teaching and mentoring young poets around the Salish Sea. Arianne has received fellowships from Jack Straw Cultural Arts, Hugo House, and Artist Trust. She is an alum of Hedgebrook and the MFA program at the Institute of American Indian Arts and was recently the Seattle Repertory Theater’s first Native Artist-in-Residence.
