Bedtime Stories Fundraiser Events
Bedtime Stories is a yearly literary celebration in which Northwest writers unveil original short stories created for the event. Taking place in Seattle and Spokane each year in October, proceeds go toward Humanities Washington’s mission to create spaces to explore different perspectives.
The Bedtime Stories fundraiser has included prominent Northwest novelists like Charles Johnson, Tom Robbins, Jess Walter, Sharma Shields, Jamie Ford, David Guterson, August Wilson, and Garth Stein. The events also feature the presentation of the Humanities Washington Award.

Seattle: October 8 | Spokane: October 22
Humanities Washington’s annual fundraiser is happening live and in-person again! Join us in Seattle and Spokane for our iconic evening where Washington State authors read original short stories based on the event’s theme.
In addition to readings from Charles Johnson and Washington State Poet Laureate Rena Priest in Seattle, and Jess Walter, Johanna Stoberock, and Tiffany Midge in Spokane, we’ll have interactive games, a cocktail hour, and demonstrations of our amazing programs. And the support raised will go toward our mission of creating spaces to explore difference perspectives around the state.
Can’t join us in-person? The October 8 event will be streamed online. Registration will open in late summer, and more details to come. See you there!
